Hazel Blomkamp has designed and taught embroidery and beadwork for some thirty years, along with adding a busy website when the internet was invented. She has since written 8 books of needlework techniques including such titles as: Crewel Twists, Crewel Intentions, and Crewel Creatures just to name a few.
Other than her home country of South Africa, she has taught in the UK, France, Russia, Ukraine, Canada, New Zealand, cruises down big rivers in South East Asia, and was regularly to be found flying over the Indian Ocean to Australia where she taught at either at Beating Around The Bush for Inspirations Magazine in Adelaide, Koala Conventions, or for guilds around that country.
Join us for a talk about Hazel’s interpretation of Crewelwork Embroidery, giving viewers a new and contemporary spin on this historical embroidery style! Hazel will cover the topics of both design and material choices for creating inspiring projects as well as discuss experimentation in needlework techniques.
