Class Description: This is an introductory class for card makers and embroiderers using surface embroidery and a modern twist on design. The class will cover basics like how to thread a needle, mount and use an embroidery hoop, transfer design elements to fabric, and apply embroideries as appliqués to cards.

Experiment with a variety of sequins, beads, and threads to create variations of the class designs. Leave with a completed handmade card to give to loved ones just in time for graduations, weddings, and other special events!

This class will cover the following stitches: chain stitch, french knot, split stitch, and stem stitch.

Kit Contents: Beads, sequins, cotton floss, silk organza fabric, card/envelope, and needle.

Equipment Needed: All materials will be provided to you in class.

Cancellation policy: SNAD will refund tuition less a $25 processing fee up to 3 days (72 hours) prior to class start time. No refunds for cancellations with less than 3 days notification before class start time.

San Francisco School of Needlework & Design (SFSNAD) follows the City and County of San Francisco Department of Public Health’s guidelines to reduce the risk of COVID-19. Consistent with CDC recommendations, SFSNAD requires a valid ID and proof of vaccination in order to enter this space and participate in onsite, in-person courses and classes. We require visitors, students, and guests to the site to wear a well-fitting, non-vented surgical/procedural mask such as an N95, KN95, or KF94 respirator.
