This class will be taught online over two sessions*.

First session August 20th from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm Pacific Time.

Second session August 27th from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm Pacific Time.

When you register for the August 20th class, you will be registered for both sessions.

Description: In this workshop, you will learn to create cordonnet foundations in thread. You will also learn how to create needlelace slips on foundations using various needlelace patterns such as Brussels Stitch with return, Brussels stitch with a gilt passing thread return, Single Brussels Stitch, Trellis Stitch, and Spiral Trellis Stitch.

Kit Contents: All supplies will be mailed to you prior to the class. You will need to supply your own scissors.

About the Educator: Lauren Yeager is a textile artist with a particular interest in studying and preserving traditional garments and embroidery. This led her to studying with the Royal School of Needlework in the UK, and later with the Japanese Embroidery Center and Ecole Lesage as well. She has a BFA in Fashion Design from Columbia College in Chicago, and has received multiple awards for construction and design in costume and in hand embroidery, including the DCASE individual artist grant from the City of Chicago.

Before coming to SNAD, Lauren worked as a production assistant for visual artist Nick Cave in his Chicago studio, building soundsuits for museum installations and private collections. She has extensive experience as a freelance artist, assisting in costume production for various performances and competitions.

Registration for this class closes 2 weeks prior to the start date in order to allow for the shipment of kits. If you would like to inquire about the possibility of late registration, please contact info@sfsnad.org. Late registration will be accommodated when possible with an additional expedited shipping fee.

Cancellation policy: SNAD will refund tuition less a $25 processing fee up to 3 days (72 hours) prior to class start time. No refunds for cancellations with less than 3 days notification before class start time.
