Marie-Sophie Lockhart’s creations are hand embroidered, one-of-a-kind and 100% original. Born in the Banlieues (outskirts) of Paris, she began her fashion career on the sales floor of Colette. Fast forward a few years and Marie-Sophie lands in New York City. She had been traveling the world, when she met her husband, a Brooklyn-based tattoo artist. They settled in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn and most recently, Hawaii. Her love for the funky D.I.Y. styles of the 60s and 70s inspired her to create spirited folk designs with embroidery.
In 2015, Marie-Sophie launched Lockhart Embroidery, and began using her embroidery skill to create one-of-a-kind denim pieces. Her work caught the attention of Marc Jacobs, who asked her to create the hand embroidery for Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2016 show. She has continued to work with them for their runway and ready-to-wear collections for the past few seasons.
