In this two-day course, explore the history and beauty of the distinctive Tudor rose with Lucy Barter, SFSNAD Creative Director.

This class will be taught online via Zoom

Class length: 12 hours*

*One ticket covers the cost of both sessions

Session 1: Tuesday, Oct 4 from 10 am – 3 pm PT

Session 2: Wednesday, Oct 4 from 10 am – 3 pm PT

Class Description: In this two-day course, explore the history and beauty of the distinctive Tudor rose with Lucy Barter, SFSNAD Creative Director. This distinctive English flower possesses an inner cluster of white petals and an outer ring of red petals, and holds historical significance as a symbol of both regional conflict and national pride. This classic Tudor rose design teaches needlepainting and goldwork with felt padding, gilt passing thread, chip work, and long and short silk stitching.

Supplies: Class kit will be sold separately.

We’re partnering with Maydel as a source for all of your material needs. Once you are registered, you will receive further instructions on purchasing your kit for this class. Please note that kit price range for this class is $126.

You will need to supply your own embroidery scissors.

About the Educator: Prior to co-founding SFSNAD, Lucy Barter, was the sole proprietor of her needlework business, Forever Embroidery Studio. Lucy served as the resident embroidery teacher at Filoli, created a Goldwork Embroidery Craftsy class, and served as the US Course Coordinator and instructor for the Royal School of Needlework.

In 2006, Lucy graduated from the Royal School of Needlework Apprenticeship Programme, and holds a BA Honors Degree in Fashion Design from the University of Northumbria. Lucy brings many valuable years of teaching, design and technical expertise to the needlework field. She is passionate about sharing traditional embroidery techniques.

Registration for this class closes 1 day prior to the start date.

Cancellation policy: SNAD will refund tuition less a $25 processing fee up to 3 days (72 hours) prior to class start time. No refunds for cancellations with less than 3 days notification before class start time.
