In this half-day course, stitchers will learn how to create a knotted or braided design using strips of bias cut fabric.

Class length: 3.5 hours

Skill level: All levels

Class Description: In this half-day course, stitchers will learn how to create a knotted or braided design using strips of bias cut fabric. Choose a pattern, make the bias strips, and hand-appliqué them onto a prepared background to create a stunning, dimensional design.

Kit Contents: Selection of fabrics to choose from, printed patterns, backing stabilizer, needle, thread, specialized applique pins, and printed instructions

Supplies: All materials will be handed out to you at the start of class. We will provide scissors for cutting paper and fabric, iron, and ironing board (or pad).

Please feel free to bring a small sewing kit with your preferred tools. Especially handy is a thimble. Thimbles are very important for this type of sewing, and it is a very personal choice.

Class Minimum: 3 students

About the Educator: Judith is a SF resident who has been quilting for over 30 years. Her innovative, casual style has been displayed and awarded in national quilt shows. She will be enjoying a solo show at the new location of SFSNAD in March of 2022. Her workshops focus on hand-stitched quilting, expanding SFSNAD’s repertoire of fiber arts techniques.

Cancellation policy: SNAD will refund tuition less a $25 processing fee up to 3 days (72 hours) prior to class start time. No refunds for cancellations with less than 3 days notification before class start time.
